Introducing developer guides and BBEC database reference including subject area ERDs for Infinity SDK development that complement the Blackbaud Developer Network (BBDN).
Database Reference and Subject Area ERDs:
The developer guides provide an Infinity SDK software developer with the knowledge to build new features within BBEC using the SDK and the ability to communicate with any Infinity based application (BBEC, Altru, and ResearchPoint) using our web api. In addition, we are pleased to announce the developer guides contain new content for business processes, data warehouse, workflow, and web api. Feel free to provide these links to your clients or anyone who may benefit.
A) The developer guides will eventually replace the Documentation node within BBDN. Once all the information within the Documentation node has been replicated within the developer guides, we will remove the entries within the Documentation node. The blogs will remain within BBDN and blog authors are encouraged to continue blogging.
Question 2) How do the developer guides affect BBDN?
A) The developer guides and database reference compliment BBDN. We are simply moving the “official” documentation out of BBDN to its new location. You will always use BBDN for the blog articles and Infinity SDK forum.
Question 3) Should we refer to the developer guides from now on instead of the Documentation node within BBDN?
A) Yes. The developer guides will be the new home for official Infinity SDK how-to documentation. It is refreshed daily and contains the latest and greatest Infinity SDK learning guide information.
Question 4) Is there new content within the developer guides?
A) Absolutely, the web api content has been enhanced along with .Net, PowerShell and Java code samples. The content has been reformatted and reorganized. Additional code samples have been provided for many of the features. You will also find new content on workflow, business processes, and the data warehouse.
Question 5) The tables, views, stored procedures, etc. within the new on-line BBEC database reference looks very similar to what you get within the database reference compiled help file that comes with the SDK. Is it the same information?
A) Yes, we use the .chm to drive the online database reference. As an aside, in the next release of BBEC, we will not include the audit tables.
Question 6) Can I link to specific articles or content within the new developer guides or database reference?
A) Yes. You can link to the main urls for either the developer guides or the database reference. You can link to a specific topic, like this one on processing data within a business process. And you can link to specific topic areas, like the new materials on the Blackbaud Data Warehouse.
Question 7) Will I be able to comment on content within the developer guides?
A) At this point, no. We are exploring our options for adding this capability. Stay tuned.
Question 8) What if I have a specific question about something on any documentation?
A) As long as it is Infinity related, your questions are welcome in the forum. Please include a link to the content in question.
